“I am extremely impressed by Sunset Hills Montessori School. The owner of the school is very involved and truly cares about the well-being and development of the children. There are probably a couple hundred kids in the school, but she remembers each of their names and greets them every day at school. The teachers are well trained in the Montessori teaching methods and they are very caring, yet strict about following the rules. My son really enjoys going to school. We previously took him to Chesterbrook Academy, but it was terrible, and comparing the two is like night and day. The thing I like the most about Montessori is that the kids are taught individual responsibility, independence, and respect for others. I highly recommend this great school. It is a more expensive than some other schools, but it is very much worth the extra cost.”

I was impressed by a lot at the school: the parent involvement, the head of the school shaking every child's hand every morning before class and calling almost all of them by name, the calm demeanor of the teachers, the obvious love the teachers and administrators have for the kids -- but more than anything else, whenever I asked my daughter 'did you learn that from your teachers?' her answer was always 'no, I taught myself!' I think that bodes very well for the future -- and my 5-year-old is now reading entire books to us every night at bedtime.”

“My family is entering our third year at SHMS and we are extremely happy with the overall experience at the school. Caring, loving, knowledgeable staff who have truly fostered my kids' love of learning using the Montessori method. School also offers Spanish and Music once a week. The school founder greets every child by name each morning and is very involved. Great communication between school and parents, strong PTA and parent support. The school underwent a recent addition and other improvements to school grounds to create a lovely setting for children to learn and play. I should note my experience has only been with the pre-primary and primary grades.”

“The staff are kind, caring and adept a create an atmosphere of calm control. (Not always easy in a pre-school mixed age setting.) I am impressed the the teachers' ability (true to the Montessori method) to lead the children to their own discoveries - be they small or large, academic or social. The building is wonderful and I can't wait to see what the new addition at the Ridge heights location will look like. My pre-school son enjoys his regular classwork, plus the special instruction in Spanish and music. The teachers are wonderful and we have a good rapport, we function as a team often alerting one another to problems or progress we observe on 'our watch' so we can seamless address them throughout the day/week. I highly recommend Sunset Hills Montessori.”
