Centreville High School Reviews

I graduated a few years ago from cvhs. The school felt generally safe. Students tended to be mature and not pick on other kids too much. In over half of my classes i felt like i was receiving a quality education. The advanced classes tend to have the better teachers in the school (although there are a few exceptions.) Some of the regular classes were pointless, just hoops to jump through to graduate.

My child's experience at CVHS has been generally positive. Getting involved in extracurriculars is key. School pride seems to be improving under new leadership. There is a big push to take APs, which have replaced honors classes in some instances. In many cases, honors classes would be a more appropriate choice. Some of the teachers are amazing (Kurt Waters, Judy Martin, Edie Alcorn) and some seem to be teachers only so they can coach sports. You will surely get the better teachers if your child takes as many honors classes as he/she can handle. Parental involvement is critical in the high school years; keep your finger on the pulse of the school, teachers, and staff, and your child will get a first-rate education at CVHS.

there is a lot of school spirit here and its a good environment to learn in. i love it

Looking back now, i'd say the quality of academic programs in Centreville is excellent. I was involved in many different programs throughout my 4 years at Centreville. I definitely enjoyed it's music programs. Mrs. Lundsford was a great teacher. Thanks for believing in me! It's cheerleading and dance teams were great to be on as well. Lots of school spirit, great people, great atmosphere. The level of parent involvement is high...i'm actually looking forward to my high school reunion. If you are around this area and your child can go to this school...i'd say do it. I had a blast! (Carmela Marfori Fernandez, Class '99)

This school is the best! I have always been accepted here and the teachers and facility are really supportive. I learn so much and there are a ton of clubs and sports to choose from. If you want your child to go to a great school, choose Centreville High!

AS a former graduate of Centreville, I would like to share a thought(more of a memeory) on my experiences of my education. This school was the best thing that ever happened to me thus far. Mrs. Lundsford and her choir program were exellent. The staff and faculty were more than gracious and ALWAYS willing to give that extra push. School spirit runs high in all aspects of academics, artistics, and athletics. I hope your children are fortunate to have such a gifted trial of life. - Amanda Campbell (class of '99)

College bound students can excel at CVHS if they enroll in the Advanced Placement and honors courses. These students produce high SAT scores and get accepted at the best coleges and universities. CVHS has great activities and sports opportunities and excellent parental involvement. A new principal begins in Fall 2004.
