Brentsville District High School Reviews

Brentsville District High School is a pretty amazing school. I just came from a total preppy, gossipy, crazy middle school and Brentsville is such a relief from all of the pressure. The teachers are great and the kids are even better. All of the teachers are pretty laid back making Brentsville a fun environment to be in. Even though our football team isn't doing as well as we hoped for, the sports there are awesome. In addition, its academics are pretty great. This school is actually known for its outstanding scores. It is true that the math program is not that great but that does not mean that the people there aren't working on improving it; because they are. All of the History teachers are superb, same with the English department. The Cambridge programme may be hard for some but I feel it is definitely fulfilling. I honestly love this school.

BDHS offers students a lot of opportunities for sports and they have some very dedicated coaches. The new principal is very good. The assistant principals don't seem to be much help, other than being able to read policies from the manual and unwilling to think outside the box. The Cambridge Program is merely an end of course testing program that stresses the students out in May and June. Particularly those students who must also take SOLs and AP test in the same subject. They are slowly adding more electives; music programs are below average. There are some excellent teachers in social studies and science. The math department is deplorable and despite vociferous and numerous complaints from parents only a few changes have been made. It is extremely overcrowded with 18 trailers.

I started as a freshmen there in the 07-08 school year. I think this was a great, friendly school, with the small town hospitality. The sports are okay, with a small variety, but there are a lot of after school clubs. I think the history department was amazing. Although I would have to say, that BDHS has the worst math department ever, I think pretty much anyone would agree upon that. There aren't many electives to choose from, but the ones that are there are alright. The Cambridge program is harsh on the GPA, because of the fact that it is unknown to most colleges and IGSCE is quite rare in the U.S. But the curriculum was so strict that it helped improve my writing alot. I think overall this is a nice school and the people are amazing. GO TIGERS!!

This school is great for academics and is well known for that. However this school lacks in some areas especially diversity and size.Sadly i as a student have experienced discrimination in this school as well. This school is definatly too small for the amount of students that go there. The cambridge program is also a great program offered at this school however very few others school have this program making it difficult to transfer. Overall this is an 'ok' school but in my opinion it is a little backwords in technology, diversity, and in size.

This is our Child's first year at BDHS and we have been pleased overall. Our son enjoy's going to school here, however I am also concerned about class sizes and the many trailers that they are adding in the future which will produce even more overcrowding and in turn the many children attending BDHS will not get the education they truly deserve.

My childen have been at BDHS for 4 years and, unfortunately, it has changed a lot since we began. On the positive side there are more opportunities for sports and the teachers are competent and responsive to parents. There are a few super dedicated teachers and coaches that are true standouts. However, the new principal lacks effective leadership skills. The new assistant principals seem equally inept and the school is losing the highly regarded reputation it once enjoyed. For example, they took in too many transfer students last year and have 6 trailers this year and expect 12 trailers for the 07-08 school year. Hallways and cafeteria are over crowded. Many students did not have a class for their first block this year and were forced to be student aides. Class sizes are large, 36 in some.

I would definitely say that BDHS is the best high school ever. I started there this fall as a freshman. Coming from a small private school, I was very sacred of the big public high schools. However, Brentsville made the transition smooth and easy. I love all my teachers and I not think I could ask for a better education.

I was a student at brentsville high and played for the football team as well. I went there my entire high school career and wouldnt have changed it if I couldve. I went to europe for my senior trip with Mr. Kitchen, Mr. Anderson, and Mr. Hanley who are all history teachers...they were the coolest teachers there, I actually learned something from all of them too! I would recommend this school to anyone, just check out the stats!
