St. Anns Academy Reviews

ST Anns is an pretty good school, the lower grade teachers the 1st, 2nd and and 3rd grade teachers does an excellent job of teaching. The office manager is great and very pleasant to talk with. The upper school teachers are good too, however, the upper school curriculum could stand some more challenging subjects for the students. Overall the school is a pretty good school for the students and family.

The principal takes an active interest in each student and learned the children and parent's names within the first week of school. She is actively involved in monitoring the quality of the teaching and engaging parents. The kindergarten teacher is very experienced and gives the children individual attention. My children loved their first grade teacher and she inspired them to enjoy reading. The children learn values, respect for adults and themselves as well as concern for the homeless and those less fortunate. The school has a holiday and spring music program as well as a band and chorus. The art teacher is fabulous and the children's art work is displayed throughout the school. The school and parish sponsor Biddy basketball for 1-3 grade which is fun and not too competitive. The refs stop play to tie the kids' shoes. The teachers are excellent and view their work as a vocation.

The school is a good school. However, I would recommend stronger and challenging academics for students 5th grade and above. The lower grades can stand to reduce its class size. However, in the first, and second grade the teachers have done a great job making sure that the students are on target. The upper classes can stand to be a bit more challenging for students working above grade level.

The academic program at St. Ann's is not as strong as it should be. There is a problem with recruiting and retaining qualified teachers. The lower school is good, although some of the classes are large - 29 students. After 3rd grade, everything is downhill! There isn't many extracurriclar activities besides basketball and chorus, but this is common for most catholic schools. Parents are very involved, although that doesn't seem to correct the problem with teachers and curriculum.

This is my children's first year at St. Ann's Academy and they absolutely love it. The principal is involved, supportive and greets each student every morning by name. She is a true role model and it shows in the attitudes of heir teachers. The teachers are also fabulous. Their dedication, attention and teaching are all geared toward the students with such a passion to put education first. The parents are amazing and always Johnny-on-the-spot for the many activities and events taking place. At least once every month, the children have the opportunity to reach out and help the local homeless and others with hardship, due to St. Ann s cooperative spirit in helping the less fortunate. We are very proud and pleased to attend this school.
